WHAT ABOUT WEZEMBEEK-OPPEM?
Is safety a priority for the majority in our municipality?
THE FACTS
The feeling of insecurity among our residents is 2% higher than the average level measured in the Flemish region. This feeling of insecurity has increased by 3% compared to 2023.
The question is to know what the reason is due to. After all, the crime figures are low and we want to keep it that way.
In particular, theft, extortion and cheating scored higher than the Flemish average. In certain neighbourhoods there were many burglaries at certain times of the year.
WHAT DOES WO-PLUS STAND FOR SPECIFICALLY?
Safety is not just a right, it is an absolute priority. As WOplus, we are determined to take concrete actions that make our municipality safer, and we need your support to do so.
“The police, your friend” should not be an empty slogan. That is why we are going to ensure that our local police zone gets all the resources and support it needs. Because security is an investment in our well-being.
We need to improve information about police operations and stimulate interaction between the population and the police. This means strengthening the neighbourhood police officers, so that there is always a familiar face in your neighbourhood to whom you can turn with your concerns and questions. “More blue on the streets” to protect citizens and not to fine them.
In doing so, we are particularly focused on protecting our citizens from theft, fraud and extortion by actively informing them and making them aware of possible risks. In addition, we will strengthen the Neighborhood Information Networks (BIN) so that they can play a crucial role in ensuring safety in our community. The neighbourhood police officers plays a crucial role in this regard.
Compliance with certain aspects of police regulations, such as mobility of vulnerable road users and noise nuisance, should be given more attention. We plaid for a clear policy that keeps up rules and prevents noise so that our streets remain safe and quiet. Here too we see a role for neighbourhood policemen.
Finally, discussions with neighbouring police zones about a possible merger are not taboo for us. If that means joining forces for a safer Wezembeek-Oppem, we will gladly take up that challenge.
Let us strive together for a safe and liveable Wezembeek-Oppem. Your safety is our priority. Vote for safety. Vote for progress. Vote for a stronger, safer Wezembeek-Oppem. Vote WOplus.
